# A workspace that stays up while the work is unfinished.

Background processes and a published port. A database you can pause. A browser or a desktop when the image includes one.

## Start the processes. Wait for the port. Publish it.

A session can run more than the foreground command. Start the app, and a database or another process, in the same machine. Wait until the port accepts connections. Publish that port so your application can hand the address to the person or the test that needs it.

What you can say today is the published port. A hosted preview domain — a temporary public URL you drop on a pull request — is not confirmed.

## Stop the session. Start it again. The disk is still there.

Stop when the work pauses. Start the same session later. Files on the session disk — including a database that wrote them — are still there. You do not rebuild the workspace from scratch to continue.

## Click the page, or click the pixel. Same machine.

Three kinds of UI work fit one session. They are not three products.

- **Test the app you just started.** The service from the previous section is already on a port. Drive it from outside, or from a browser running in the guest.
- **Open a page.** Use a browser in the guest image. A confirmed pattern is to run your own Playwright there, over `exec`, when the image includes a browser.
- **Click the pixels.** When the target is a graphical application rather than a DOM, the image needs a desktop. Mouse, keyboard, and a capture of the window are the case. A first-class desktop API is not confirmed.

There is no separate browser API or desktop API to call out on this page until those methods ship. Pick the image that contains the tool, and drive it from the session.
